Dear friends,

I’m reaching out to share some necessary resources with you. Many of you already heard yesterday that California, New York, and Illinois declared states of emergency around the growing monkeypox epidemic facing LGBTQ+ folks and the community at large. While this crisis comes at a time when our community is already facing so much distress, JQ remains resilient and committed to caring for every person we serve.

Though the federal supply of monkeypox vaccines remains limited, the public health priority is administering the first dose of the vaccine to as many people at higher risk for monkeypox exposure as possible. Please visit the following links for information about symptoms and vaccination eligibility.

For overall updates and information on the virus, visit the CDC website here.

  • If you are in Los Angeles, you can sign up for a vaccination here.
  • If you are in San Francisco, learn more here
  • If you are in New York City, you can find out more information here.
  • In Chicago, you can learn more here.

We want you to know that JQ is here for you. If you are experiencing symptoms or undergoing the four-week quarantine, the JQ Helpline is open and available to you for case management, spiritual care, and meal delivery. You can contact the JQ Helpline by emailing helpline@jqinternational.org or calling/texting us at 855.574.4577.

Our work is grounded in the Jewish value of
Pikuach Nefesh, preserving life. If you are experiencing physical or emotional symptoms during this challenging time, please do not hesitate to contact us for support, resources, and referrals.

With care and concern,
