Reverse Tashlich 2026
Join TeenJQSA and Repair the Sea. Caring for the Ocean is not just an environmental duty, but a spiritual responsibility! a Mitzvah! Reverse Tashlich 2026 invites you to join a global Jewish movement dedicated to repairing the sea and safeguarding the water that sustain life on Earth.
What is Reverse Tashlich? Reverse Tashlich is an innovative approach to Jewish environmental stewardship. In the traditional ritual of Tashlich on Rosh Hashanah, we go to a body of water and symbolically cast our “sins” into it, beginning the New Year with a clean heart. Reverse Tashlich transforms that symbolism into action by removing human “sin” from the water. It is an opportunity to come together in a hands-on effort to clean beaches, rivers, lakes and shorelines: removing plastic, trash, and other debris that threaten marine ecosystems and the health of our planet. Most of us know Tashlich as the Rosh Hashanah tradition of standing by water and symbolically letting go of the past year’s mistakes, so we can start the new year with a clean slate. Reverse Tashlich flips that idea into something hands-on: instead of just casting things away symbolically, we’re physically pulling human-made “sins”, plastic, trash, and debris out of the water itself, protecting the beaches, rivers, and shorelines that marine life depends on.For Teen JQSA, this is exactly the kind of event we love to kick off a year with: sunshine, community, and doing something that actually matters — rooted in Jewish values of caring for the earth and for each other. It’s tikkun olam in its most literal form: repairing the world, one beach at a time.Join Teen JQSA, Repair the Sea, and Adamah as we bring this global movement to life, right here in our own community.
